With a few exceptions such as South Africa, Nigeria, Egypt, Algeria, Angola and Morocco, the importance of the African states in the world economy is still low in terms of GDP. However, several African countries have been among the world’s fastest growing economies since the beginning of the 21st century. The continent’s raw materials and agriculturally usable areas are of increasing importance for the African countries as well as the industrialized and emerging countries trading with them.
